Closed test. Expect bugs, restarts and wipes. An invite code is needed to create an account.

Download

The Windows client for the closed test. It is already set up to connect to our servers.

Client coming soon

The closed-test client is getting its last fixes. It will be here, with its size and SHA-256, as soon as it is ready.

Get ready meanwhile:

  1. Create your account with your invite code (or log in if you have one).
  2. Read the news; it will say when the client is out.
  3. Check the server status.

How to start

  1. Unzip all of it into a folder of its own (for example C:\Games\Unleashed Outbreak). Do not run it from inside the zip.
  2. Check the download if you like: in PowerShell, Get-FileHash .\the-zip-file.zip must print the SHA-256 above.
  3. Run the game's .exe. The build is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you: choose More info, then Run anyway.
  4. Log in with your account name (not an email address) and your password, the same ones as on this site. The client connects to rotlands.anchorworlds.com:4400 on its own.
  5. Pick a room in the lobby, make a character, and keep your head down.

Needs 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and a DirectX 11 or 12 graphics card. The game uses network ports 4400 to 4407 (TCP and UDP); most home networks need nothing set up for that.

Known issues

Things we know about in this build (24 October). No need to report these.

  • The login screen asks for an "email". Type your account name there, not an email address.
  • Searching a container drops what you find on the floor next to it (there is no container window yet). Items on the floor disappear after about three minutes.
  • Anyone can pick up a drop. Drops and gold on the ground are gone after a room restarts.
  • Reloading has no animation yet.
  • Other players do not see or hear your gunshots, and your crouch only shows on your own screen.
  • Worn armour does not show on your character.
  • Repairs with /repair only work near the trader in Town Main.
  • A room restart disconnects the players in that room. Log in again; your character is where it was last saved.
  • Windows SmartScreen may warn about the client because it is not code-signed yet: choose More info, then Run anyway.
